Summer Festivities

June saw a month full of activities for everyone - a visit from the 'Band Wagon', the school tour and a trip to the Park. A great way to wrap up the year in 2nd class!

Sports Day

As the sun shone down on Mountmellick, we had everything from piggy-back races, bench-ball, bouncy castles, welly toss, long jump, sack races, and wheel barrow races to name but a few at our Sports Day! Well done to all on a great day of fun!

A Visit to the Library

On Wednesday, the 7th of June, the Library very kindly welcomed us for a visit. We had a great morning listening to the story of the very popular Lionel Messi and we even got to see a signed jersey of his as well as other memorabilia! We enjoyed reading some of our favourite books, playing with Lego, the Interactive Table as well as exploring the Sensory Garden.

Pancake Tuesday

After making the pancake batter themselves, the boys in 2nd got to enjoy their tasty pancakes on 'Pancake Tuesday'.

Smoothie Making

2nd class were very busy today - peeling, chopping and blending, to make tasty smoothies.

Credit Union Art Competition

Well done to all the boys who participated in the Credit Union Art Competition, they really set a very high standard. We were even lucky enough to have some prize winners in the class!

Term 1

To end the first term of the year, after reading how to make 'Polar Bear Peppermint Creams' it was only fair that 2nd class got make and taste them for themselves! The boys also got enjoy a hot chocolate as a reward for working so hard this term.

Maths Week

Maths Week was a busy week in 2nd class. We got to practice our tables on our tablets and brush up on problem-solving using our bee-bots and Maths games. We even got to take part in 'The Big Maths Quiz' with a real mathematician on Zoom!

Road Safety Authority Visit

All the boys in SPN were very lucky to receive a visit from the RSA to make sure they are equipped with all the knowledge needed to keep safe on the roads. They even had to complete a driving and pedestrian test! Thankfully they all passed with flying colours and each boy earned their very own safety license.

School Grounds Scavenger Hunt

In October, the boys were tasked with the challenge to find a variety of materials in our school grounds. Armed with clipboards in hand they worked together and found everything they were looking for, some of the boys were even luck enough to spot a squirrel!
